Report by Stefania Musco & Bárbara Padilla-Fernández:

The number of attendants were asked to the ICS office. According to the congress organising company there were 42 ICS delegates who attended the INUS session.

Dr. Bárbara Padilla-Fernández, from the Department of Urology of the Hospital Universitario de Canarias in Tenerife (Spain), gave the first lecture of the INUS session. In 15 minutes, a review of the most relevantre ports on the urinary microbiome in neuro-urological patients was done. Currently, as in neurologically
intact patients, no correlation between urinary microbiome and clinical profiles have been found. She presented the evidence of alpha diversity patients with indwelling catheters. However, no differences in microbial diversity have been identified in patients with or without recurrent urinary attract infections. Initial  reports have also shown that alpha diversity is lower in patients after performing botulinum toxin injections, although it should be confirmed in larger prospective studies. Her lecture was followed with high interest and several questions from the auditorium were raised and discussion continued also after the end of the session.

Dr Stefania Musco, from the Department of Neurourology of the Careggi Hospital in Florence (Italy) presented the organization of her department. Neurourology in Careggi is one of the fewest reality which is independent from Spinal Unit giving the opportunity to treat all types of neurourological patients and offer to those several types of treatments from minimal invasive procedures to major surgery. Her presentation was very felt moving a powerful clapping applause from the audience.

Sincerly
Stefania Musco & Bárbara Padilla-Fernández
