Blayne Welk, MD

Dr. Welk obtained his Bachelors of Science degree and Medical Degree at Western University. He then went on to complete his urology residency at the University of British Columbia and obtained his Royal College certification in Urology in 2009. He completed additional clinical training at the University of Toronto, with (Dr's Herschorn, Kodama and Carr) where he specialized in the evaluation and treatment of neurogenic bladder dysfunction, male and female incontinence, and male urethral stricture disease.

During his 2-year fellowship he also completed a Masters Degree in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Toronto. In 2011 he was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department's of Surgery (Urology) and Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Western University. He is an Adjunct Scientist at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences. He has previously been awarded the Canadian Urologic Association Scholarship Award, and is a current receipt of the Department of Surgery Clinician Scientist award.

He has received peer-reviewed grants for his academic work from several national and international organizations such as the Canadian Urologic Association, Academic Medical Organization of Southwestern Ontario, PSI Foundation, Rick Hansen Foundation, Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine & Urogenital Reconstruction and Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation. He has published over 45 peer reviewed manuscripts in urologic and general medicine journals.
